ADHD Awareness Month – October

ADHD Awareness Month is observed every October and serves as an annual opportunity to educate the people, reduce stigma, and promote a deeper understanding of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

The month aims to provide reliable information about this neurodevelopmental condition, which affects both children and adults, and to highlight the issues and obstacles faced by those with ADHD.

The Purpose of ADHD Awareness Month:

To increase public knowledge about ADHD, which is often misunderstood and misrepresented.

To encourage a better understanding of the complexities of ADHD and its wide-ranging impact on daily life.

To combat negative stereotypes and myths associated with ADHD.

What is ADHD?

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects how individuals function, particularly in areas of attention, behaviour, and concentration.

While often associated with childhood, ADHD is a lifelong condition that affects individuals of all ages.

Symptoms can manifest differently in people, including girls and women who may present with different symptoms and are often misdiagnosed or underdiagnosed.
