At Chapel surgery, our Practice Nurse Amanda has put together a display of useful information and handouts for patients.
To find out about dementia, arrange an appointment with your GP if you have concerns about your memory or think you may have symptoms. Or, if you have concerns regarding a loved one who may be showing symptoms, talk with them about arranging an appointment.
The NHS website provides information on dementia symptoms like memory loss, difficulty concentrating, and trouble with daily tasks, and explains that it is not a normal part of aging but is caused by brain damage.
A diagnosis can help you and your family prepare, and there are many support options available from charities like the Alzheimer’s Society, Dementia UK, Age UK and the Young Dementia Network, for those affected by early onset dementia.
