Electronic Prescription Service
Beacon Medical Practice uses the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS). This enables electronic prescriptions to be generated by your Practice. Which is then electronically sent to the pharmacy of your choice. This makes the prescribing and dispensing process more efficient and convenient for patients and staff.
Dispensary
Beacon Medical Practice is a dispensing practice. If you live more than one mile in a straight line from a pharmacy, you may be eligible to have your prescription dispensed and/or delivered by the practice. Unfortunately, for legal reasons, we are unable to dispense for patients who live within a mile of a privately owned pharmacy. We have a competent team of friendly and fully qualified Dispensers providing a professional service to all our dispensing patients.
Blister Packs
Patients, who are taking several different medications, may sometimes find it difficult to take the right drug at the right time. Blister packs can help make it simpler and easier to take the right medication at the right time. Please ask for information if you are interested in this service.
Delivery Service
We offer a free delivery service for our dispensing patients who are unable to collect their medication.
Dispensary Opening Hours
The dispensary is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm we are closed Thursday afternoons from 12.30pm. If you wish to collect your prescription from our Skegness Practice we can organise this for you.
Prescription Charges and Prescription Prepayment Certificates
If you are exempt from paying for prescriptions, please provide evidence of your exemption when collecting your medication.
From 1 April 2021 the cost of a prescribed item is £9.35. If you need more than 12 prescribed medicines each year, you could save money with a 12-month Prescription Prepayment Certificates (PPC). The cost of a pre-payment certificate for three months is £30.25, and a yearly one is £108.10. You can purchase a pre-payment certificate from the NHS Business Services Authority by phoning the prepayment certificate order line on the lo-call rate number 0300 330 1341, or apply on-line at www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/ppc.
