September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month in the UK.
This has become an annual UK event dedicated to raising awareness for blood cancers like leukaemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.
During this month, organisations and charities work together to focus attention on blood cancers, provide support to those affected, and drive research for better outcomes.
Types of blood cancers included in the awareness month are:
Leukaemia: A cancer of the early blood-forming tissues, including the bone marrow.
Lymphoma: A cancer that starts in cells of the lymphatic system, called lymphocytes.
Myeloma: Also known as multiple myeloma, it is a devastating blood cancer that affects thousands of lives.
Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS): Blood cancers that are related to inherited genetic factors.
If you have concerns about blood cancer, please speak to a GP.
