NHS Health Checks

As part of a national scheme Beacon Medical Practice is offering everyone between the ages of 40 and 74, who has not been diagnosed with heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes or kidney disease, a Health check once every five years.

What is a NHS Health Check?

NHS Health CheckThe NHS Health check is designed to assess your risk of developing high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, kidney disease or diabetes.

These conditions are the number one cause of premature death in the North East of England and people are often unaware that they’ve developed a problem until it is too late.
It’s quick and easy, and if we do find a problem, you’ll get plenty of personalised help and advice on simple lifestyles changes that can make a huge difference.

The check is based on questions and measurements such as age, family history, height, weight and blood pressure. There will also be a simple blood test to measure your cholesterol.

The NHS Health Check helps to identify potential risks early. By having this check and following the advice of your health professional, you improve your chances of living a healthier life.
