Important Information for Vulnerable Patients:
Temperatures are rising to levels rarely seen in the UK, and a Red Weather Warning is now in place.
You may have seen comments online saying “it’s not a heatwave, it’s called summer” but although it is summer, these temperatures are not normal for our climate.
Conditions like this are very rare, and the heat is expected to increase further, potentially reaching new record levels.
This level of heat can be dangerous, especially for older adults, babies and young children, people with long‑term conditions, pregnant women, and anyone who is socially isolated.
To stay safe during the warning period:
Stay hydrated, drink water regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
Keep your home cool, close curtains on sun‑facing windows and use fans if available.
Avoid peak heat, stay indoors between late morning and early evening.
Check on vulnerable neighbours, a quick call or visit can make a real difference.
Seek medical advice early if you feel unwell, dizzy, extremely tired, or confused.
