We continue to receive lots of requests from Patients about Mounjaro.
Currently there are still strict criteria eligibility, set nationally by the NHS for General Practice.
To be considered for Mounjaro on the NHS in England, patients must meet all of the following:
Age: 18+
BMI of 40+ kg/m², or, 37.5+ kg/m² for people from South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African or African‑Caribbean backgrounds.
A clinical diagnosis of FOUR or more weight‑related conditions, such as, Type 2 diabetes, High blood pressure, Heart disease, Obstructive sleep apnoea, High cholesterol/dyslipidaemia.
Additional NHS requirements:
Mounjaro can only be prescribed as part of a wraparound weight‑management programme (diet, nutrition and activity support).
As access is limited nationally, NHS priority is for those with the highest clinical need.
Patients may be referred to a specialist weight‑management service for assessment and monitoring.
It will not be available for cosmetic or general weight loss, even privately.
Criteria may expand over time as the national programme develops and we will update Patients as and when this changes.
