The NHS Rainbow Badge is a visible sign of support for our LGBTQ+ patients.
The badge shows that we are committed to providing a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.
Wearing the badge is a promise: if you see it, you can feel confident speaking openly about your health, your identity and your experiences.
We pledge to:
- Provide a safe space where you can talk without fear of judgement. Use inclusive language and avoid assumptions about gender, sexuality or relationships.
- Acknowledge barriers LGBTQ+ people may face when accessing healthcare.
- Listen with empathy and take your concerns seriously.
- Protect confidentiality when you share personal information.
- Signpost to trusted services if you need additional support.
- Challenge discrimination and help maintain an inclusive practice environment.
- Continue learning about LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing.
